Kat is Community Coordinator for the Open Knowledge Foundation in the UK and the London-based organiser of this September’s Open Knowledge Festival in Helsinki. In 2011, Kat conducted an immersive ethnography of the role of gender embodiment in European F/LOSS hacker cultures for University College London’s Digital Anthropology MSc and is now the founder of the Radical Coding Collective which engages women in programming. A long-time artist and community organiser, she is also co-founder of Vancouver’s Fresh Media collective and does front-end design as KaiBray.
