The Conference

2012 re:publica will take place for the sixth consecutive time in Berlin. What started as a “class reunion” of bloggers, Internet activists, and researchers has become Germany’s largest and most prominent conference on the future of our society and all things digital. Unlike other conferences which focus on marketing and the usual “show and tell”, re:publica aims to bring together communities, leading thinkers of our time with activists and engaged organizations to share experiences. re:publica attracts over 3,000 participants but has preserved an open and familiar atmosphere. re:publica is the quality conference with a festival feel.

The Location

For the first time, the conference will take place at the former Postbahnhof in Kreuzberg, STATION-Berlin. Visitors will have enough space, more than 20,000 sqm to visit lectures, participate in discussions and to meet other attendees. http://station-berlin.de

The Motto: ACT!ON

ACT!ON stands for the prominent role new media is playing for social and political movements today. It also means “the digital” has manifested itself across most areas of our daily lives and it is now time to see how we can use our connectedness. This year’s program includes international guests who are actively contributing to shaping society: People who develop new technological solutions, rethink education, business models and production methods, mobility or finance, people who develop interactive designs and games, and turn exiting thought patterns upside down.

The Host

re:publica is hosted by the republica GmbH. The company and conference are both initiated by SPREEBLICK Verlag as well as the agency newthinking communications. Both companies are based in Berlin, Germany.
