The re:innovate track highlights different perspectives on Open Innovation. This session presents an academic point of view on an operational level.
Open Innovation has proven highly successful in the private sector, being responsible for some highly publicized turnarounds in major companies. However, its translation to the public sector has taken some time. Now, Smart Cities aim to reinvent cities putting innovation at the hearth of the concept, and by doing it new practices such as Open Data and cities as ecosystem managers are materializing this translation. We will examine the most relevant ones in the framework of Open Innovation and how this is changing governments from service providers to managers of ecosystems.
