The guest speaker confirmations for #rp12 are flooding in and are getting us very excited, and we hope you’re feeling it too. Cindy Gallop and Patrizia Marti are two more reasons to be looking forward to re:publica 12.
Cindy Gallop (Twitter, Web, Biography) has made her career in advertisement, consultancy and as a creative entrepreneur and projects such as If We Ran The World are just one of the many things she does.
Through Make Love Not Porn, Cindy Gallop investigates ‘Internet pornography’s sexualisation of teenagers and its effects on society’. Her TED-Talk, which turned out way more interesting and entertaining than the description might suggest, was not only exiled from the TED-homepage to its Blog section, where it was further peppered with cautionary warning notices, but also gave the bleep censor a run for his money.
This will definitely not be happening at re:publica 2012, because we think it’s more important to hear what Ciny Gallop has to say than worry about peoples’ sensibilities. More infos on Ms Gallop in WIRED and at Huffington Post.
Multi-award winning Italian Scientist Patrizia Marti (Web, Biography) is also set to fill-up the #rp12 auditoriums, seeing as her research areas include the interactions between man and machine: robots. Marti’s research establishes that social robots can create positive feelings and foster emotional attachments when interacting with physically and mentally challenged children. Marti consults for numerous panels and advisory bodies as well as the EU on this matter.
