With only a few tickets and even fewer days left, we’ve nearly made it: re:publica is officially in sight! The programme schedule is as good as done and today we’d like to give you another preview of three speakers who we will be welcoming to the main stage on Friday: Mercedes Bunz, Kathrin Passing, and Katie Stanton.
Katie Stanton, head of market development at Twitter, will take the stage at re:publica to talk about the international expansion of the short message service.
Those of you who know Kathrin Passig and Mercedes Bunz from previous re:publica visits know that both of them always come prepared with new and exciting topics! Mercedes Bunz will be talking about new forms of activism in which donations are reduced to a marginal role. Her thesis: The internet fundamentally changes how civil societies and campaigns organise. Donations are being replaced by direct 5-minute-clicktivism – and this form of altruism still has the power to change the world.
In contrast, Kathrin Passing will be talking about the “Enthusiasm over technology – the standard situation” and with us, tease the claims of those who argue that freedom, equality, fraternity and world peace are automatic consequences of technological innovations. We certainly have not put such a claim out there.
